SmartHub

The SmartHub serves as an advanced beacon gateway monitoring system, designed for seamless integration into various inter-logistic processes, whether at the level of boxes, pallets, containers, trucks, or warehouses. For additional technical details regarding the SmartHub, please refer to our comprehensive Factsheet and Manual.

The difference between the mobile and stationary software versions of the SmartHub is thoroughly explained in this article.

TempBeacons/CryoBeacons

The TempBeacons/CryoBeacons are sophisticated sensor devices designed for continuous monitoring of temperature and humidity levels. These devices transmit their measurement data wirelessly via Bluetooth to the SmartHub gateway system. For further technical insights and detailed information about the TempBeacon/CryoBeacon, please consult our comprehensive Factsheet, Quick Guide, and Manual.

📃 Instructions for correct Hardware Installation Setting Up

To ensure proper hardware installation within the large warehouse, it is crucial to establish that the SmartHub, positioned either outside or inside the warehouse, can reliably connect with the TempBeacons/CryoBeacons located inside. Maintaining a stable and unobstructed connection is essential for consistent communication and optimal hardware performance. Especially with high shelves, it must be ensured that the TempBeacons/CryoBeacons can be mounted higher than the shelves to establish an unobstructed connection.

SmartHub

  • Mount the SmartHub outside the warehouse on a door/wall or metal surface using the magnetic mount on its back.
  • Make sure the SmartHub is powered on (instructions for correct activation can be found here).
  • The display of the SmartHub is showing information. Depending on whether it is a mobile or stationary SmartHub, the displayed information will differ. For more details, refer to two versions of SmartHub.
TempBeacons/CryoBeacons

  • Place the TempBeacons/CryoBeacons in the warehouse on the walls or shelves where temperature monitoring is required.
  • ❄️ For freezers operating at temperatures below -30 degrees Celsius, it is essential to utilize the probe designed for the CryoBeacon. Position the CryoBeacon outside the freezer door while placing the probe inside. The flexible cable, rather than the probe itself, should be threaded through the door, allowing the CryoBeacon to remain externally mounted. This design ensures that the cable can be bent, enabling the freezer door to close securely without compromising the integrity of the probe's cable.❄️
  • To mount the TempBeacon/CryoBeacon in the warehouse, use the designated mounting holes and appropriate fastening materials, such as screws or tape, depending on the surface.
  • Make sure that the protective membrane of the temperature and humidity sensor is not covered.
  • It is recommended to secure the TempBeacon/CryoBeacon with cable ties.

💻 Hardware in the Tec4Cloud

For efficient warehouse monitoring using the SmartHub with TempBeacons/CryoBeacons for temperature and humidity control, we recommend creating applications in Tec4Cloud. This enables you to view all measured values from TempBeacons and CryoBeacons at a glance. Please follow these steps to set up devices in Tec4Cloud:

  1. Name and define your application in Tec4Cloud.

    • Select your preferred alert thresholds from the predefined settings and provide additional information about the application.

  2. Note: It is not necessary to add the SmartHub to the application.

    • The SmartHub only transfers the measured data automatically to Tec4Cloud and does not need to be added as a device. Add TempBeacons/CryoBeacons using the last three digits, e.g., 220000000123, to the application. Please note: The SmartHub is primarily a gateway system, not a measuring logger

  3. To create an application in Tec4Cloud, please follow the steps described in the interactive Tec4Cloud Tutorial.
    • The tutorials provide detailed, step-by-step explanations of each function in Tec4Cloud.
  4. After a certain period of time, depending on the transmission interval of your SmartHub, please check if the data is visible on your created Site in Tec4Cloud. Refer to the Tec4Cloud Tutorial for guidance on how to create Sites in Tec4Cloud.

☑️ Individual device Configuration

For the mobile SmartHub, in combination with the TempBeacons/CryoBeacons, the following interval settings are available:

Recording Interval: Depends on the recording interval of the TempBeacon/CryoBeacon. Captures the temperature and humidity of the SmartHub, as well as measurements from Beacons. Possible values: 5 / 10 / 15 / 30 / 60 / 120 minutes; 12 hours.

Transmission Interval: The upload time to Tec4Cloud. It should be a multiple of the record interval. This setting significantly impacts power consumption and runtime. Possible values: 15 / 30 / 60 / 120 minutes; 12 hours.
