This guide provides a comprehensive explanation for the proper installation and use of TempBeacons and SmartHubs. The guide includes details on applications, startup and mounting methods.
The SmartHub utilizes Bluetooth technology to communicate with the TempBeacons. Once powered on, the SmartHub automatically detects and reads the TempBeacons within its vicinity, subsequently transmitting the collected data to the Tec4Cloud for further analysis and storage.

TempBeacons
The TempBeacon is a temperature and humidity sensor and logger. The CryoBeacon extends this functionality by adding a connector for external analog probes. The Tec4med Beacon series is designed to measure temperature, humidity, and optionally shock values, as well as parameters measured by the external probe, and to internally log these data. The data can be read via a 2.4 GHz connection.
Applications:
• Shipping parameters of packages, pallets, or containers during transport
• Stationary parameters of cold rooms, refrigerators, warehouses, or storage areas
• Loading areas of vehicles such as cars, vans, and trucks
Design and Components:
• Temperature & humidity sensor
• RJ-45 socket for external probes
• Mounting holes
• Optional: Dry ice (DI) probe and liquid nitrogen (LN2) probe
Startup:
1. Site Selection
- Choose an area where the TempBeacon has a clear line of sight and is not near large metal objects or other signal obstructions (e.g. water bottles).
- Place the TempBeacon at a height of approximately 2.5 to 4 meters to ensure optimal signal coverage.
2. Preparation:
- Ensure the device is dry and the battery level is above 20%.
- Check the device for visible damage and ensure it is not placed near heat sources.
- Avoid immersing the device in liquids or subjecting it to excessive external forces.
3. Mounting:
- Use the designated mounting holes and appropriate mounting materials such as screws or adhesive tape, depending on the surface, to install the TempBeacon in the desired location.
- Ensure the TempBeacon is firmly and securely mounted without being affected by movements or vibrations.
- Ensure that the protective membrane of the temperature and humidity sensor is not covered.
- It is recommended to securely fasten the TempBeacon using cable ties.
SmartHubs
The SmartHub is an intelligent beacon gateway monitoring system that can be integrated into any interlogistic process at the box, pallet, container, truck, or warehouse level. Integrated sensors measure temperature, humidity, vibrations, light, air pressure, access, and geo-position and send these data over the cellular network or a WiFi network (SmartHub WiFi version) to the cloud software.
Applications:
• As an independent real-time monitoring system
• As a stationary gateway for managing multiple beacon data loggers
• As a live tracker in a single crate or pallet
• As a gateway in warehouses or trucks, scanning and reading all passing beacon data loggers in its Bluetooth radius
Design and Components:
• Display
• Button
• USB-C port
• Lock mechanism (in SmartLock version)
• Magnets on the back for easy attachment to metallic surfaces such as warehouse doors or other metal structures
Startup:
4. Site Selection
- Place the SmartHub centrally in the warehouse or truck so that all TempBeacons are within range.
- Ensure the SmartHub is mounted in a stable and secure location, free from obstacles that could interfere with the signal.
5. Preparation:
- Ensure the charging cable and plug are dry before use.
- Charge the device only at an ambient temperature of 0°C to +45°C.
- Check the device for visible damage.
6. Mounting
- Secure the SmartHub with screws or other appropriate mounting materials.
- Ensure the SmartHub is securely mounted and not loosened by movements or vibrations.
- Place the SmartHub in a central location in the warehouse or truck to ensure optimal range.
- Securely mount the SmartHub using appropriate mounting materials or use the built-in magnets to attach it to metallic surfaces.
